Fatal Application Error

I'm using the trial version of the professional edition of Screen Scraper. I installed it today, and ran through all the tutorials just fine.

While using Screen Scraper I installed some updates for Windows XP, and let it restart my computer. I do not recall if screen scraper was closed when I chose to restart, but it may have been.

My computer restarted fine, but now I am no longer able to run screen scraper, when I try I get:

This Application has Unexpectedly Quit

Invocation of this Java Application has caused an
InvocationTarget Exception. This application will now exit. (LAX)

When I click the Details button I get a window with this:

java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.screenscraper.scraper.ScrapingSessionManager.loadScrapingSessions(ScrapingSessionManager.java:1159)
at com.screenscraper.controller.ControllerMain.main(ControllerMain.java:476)

at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source)
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.launch(DashoA8113)
at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main(DashoA8113)

Needless to say, screen scraper does not open :(

I saw a post that addresses a similar problem, the solution for that was to install the latest updates (pre-release version?) for screen scraper, which I am unable to do, because I cannot open the application to go to the menu and choose to do so.

Thank you in advance for any help or advice in fixing this problem. :D

Fatal Application Error

Hi,

Would you mind rebooting your machine to ensure that all screen-scraper processes are dead, then try launching screen-scraper? If that still doesn't help would you mind posting a reply? We're very interested in resolving this issue, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Todd

I have the same problem, and installing the update didn't solved anything...
any other suggestions...

Fatal Application Error

I'm installing the update as I type. I will repost if I run into any problems.

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Fatal Application Error

Hi Dave,

Sorry for the trouble. Yes, re-installing does resolve the issue, but that's obviously not an acceptable long-term solution. We've actually just released a patch to screen-scraper that will hopefully resolve this in version 2.6.0.2a of screen-scraper. Would you mind updating and seeing if you still notice the problem? You can update by selecting "Check for updates" from the "Options" menu.

Many thanks,

Todd Wilson

fixed

I decided to try a reinstall of screen scraper, and that seems to have solved the problem. :D :D

Thanks anyway, though.
