tutorial: "form_submitted_text.txt" file not appea

Just to make sure it wasn´t a user-pb I've gone through the tutorial several times but I still get to the same point here:
http://www.screen-scraper.com/support/tutorials/tutorial1/running_the_co...

I cannot find the "form_submitted_text.txt" file that should have been created although the scraping log does not report anything abnormal:

- Processing script: "Write extracted data to a file"
- Writing data to a file.
- Processing scripts after scraping session has ended.
- Scraping session finished.

What is the pb?

I've tried in VBscript and in Interpreted Java.
I am using Vista (by the way guys, this is a big mistake : don't do it, it's a resource sucker) on a laptop I bought in Argentina (spanish language as default platform language)

Help welcome!

Thanks,

Hugo

Hugo,

I'm glad it worked for you. Because the new security regime implemented in Vista is different from previous versions of Windows I'd like to get feedback from other Vista users.

Could you tell whether you've tried both reading data into screen-scraper from an outside source like a database or a flat text file and also if you've tried writing out to, again, either a database and/or flat text file? And did you need to launch screen-scraper using the right-click-run-as-administrator approach in order to do so?

Thanks for your feedback.

Hugo,

Sorry for the delay. We've been testing a new installer for Vista and, as you may well know, you can't walk fast on a two-inch leash. But we have it posted for you to download.

A few things to keep in mind.

This is still very much an unstable release.

Compatibility mode changes are no longer required.

Right-click and "Run as Administrator" the following:

Setup installer (setup_ss_pro.exe)

screen-scraper.exe (may not always be required - still testing)

CMD.EXE for running batch files. This is the only way we've found to get batch files to run the JRE.
[/list:u]

Allow & confirm at security prompts

Unblock for firewall

Be nice to your mother
[/list:u]

Any feedback is of course welcome.

Good luck,
Scott

Scott,

thanks for your reply again; you're very efficient, especially considering it's Xmas time!

"A possible work around for you right now would be to open screen-scraper by "Run as Administrator" and changing the permission on the screen-scraper install directory to have full rights."

1) do i still need to choose "windows 2000 compatibility"?
2) i've ticked the box "run as admin" but i'm not sure what you mean with "changing permission on ss install dir to have full rights": can you give more details please?

Thanks in advance,

Hugo

Hugo,

Sorry for the delay. There are known issues with Vista. We have a new installer that we're doing final testing on. Hopefully, I'll be able to post a new installer for you to download soon.

A possible work around for you right now would be to open screen-scraper by "Run as Administrator" and changing the permission on the screen-scraper install directory to have full rights.

These suggestions are temporary fixes as we'll be releasing a new installer that will not require you to manually make these changes.

Stay tuned in...
