Java versions beyond 8
I need advice on how to handle future Java versions which, according to ORACLE, will not be free any more.
Will you recommend upgrading from V8 to V11 or can I stay with V8, which, as far as I know, will remain free.
best regards

Any news on Java V8 plus?
It's been a while now that we were told that you guys would comment on how to deal with the current licencing situation concerning Java. Any thoughts on that from your end?

We'll continue to use the JRE
We'll continue to use the JRE for screen-scraper, so that shouldn't entail any additional license for the end user.
are you saying that I can
are you saying that I can keep upgrading to newest JAVA versions, just as I used to do in the past?
I'm not sure what you've done
I'm not sure what you've done in the past. We've had many times when a new version of Java comes out, and we need to modify screen-scraper to deal with it, so you may have trouble if you're on the bleeding edge, but for the most part that should be fine.
back again
thank you for reviving the forums!
Will we get a recipe on how to handle Java versions?

Yes, but honestly we're still
Yes, but honestly we're still investigating the options. We'll make a post, and likely make a new release when it's all sorted.
no answer
In the more than seven years of using the SS forum, I always got pretty quick and useful answers to my posts. Now it has been more than a week since I sent the above request with no answer. What has changed?

Sorry, the forums were down
Sorry, the forums were down for a while, and my means of monitor them broke. I've re-created it, and will be back on the ball.
