Update available message, but cannot update.

Hi. I have SS Professional version 6.0.23a on mac osx Mountain Lion. Since last week whenever I start the workbench I get a message like this:

An update is available, but can only be installed when there are no command line instances running. Please stop any running command line instances, then check again for updates.

However there is not any command line instance running.
Is there really an update? How can I solve this?

thanks,
Boga.

I have just started to run a scrape in this local workstation to scrape for a lot of past data so I will have it running for a few days. Once it finishes I will try the command you mention and post the results, but I am almost positive that the error message was being popped up even right after booting the computer and starting the workbench, so no other ss processes.

ok I interrupted what was running, rebooted the workstation and before anything else, I run the command you mentioned. This is what I get:

15279 s001  R+     0:00.00 grep screen-scraper

which I believe confirms that no screen-scraper(apart from the grep command) is running. From this point, when I start the workbench I get the annoying and confusing erro message mentioned at the start of this thread.

After you rebooted, I would expect no screen-scraper processes.

After you confirm there is no screen-scraper processes, can you run the ss_update file in the screen-scraper root?

that worked, thank you. It

that worked, thank you. It was updated this way and I no longer get the error message.
