Submitting scripts using Japanese/Chinese/Korean characters.
Hello!
I would like to submit search strings to Google in the non-English languages, and non-ascii character sets, that it supports. I can do this manually, but of course would like to use ScreenScraper. If I were to, for example, change the Character Set display of my WinXP to Chinese, open SS, enter text into a Script such that it appears as Chinese characters in SS, and hit the Run Script button, will SS submit these same Chinese characters to Google?
OR, is there a way to stay in English, yet specify Unicode characters in SS?
OR, am I totally off the wall here? :o)
thanks,
Frank Z.

Yes. I'd like to do this work :)
And I hope Tidy can also work with non-english characters: Not to translate every non-ascii characters to something like "

Hi,
That's great news. Sounds like at least the most important data is showing up correctly.
Your screen-shots were of dialog boxes in screen-scraper, such as the one that allows you to open a file. In order for us to display all characters correctly in these boxes we would need to translate the various messages within screen-scraper (e.g., "Open a File") into many different languages. We haven't yet gone this far with the application just yet, but, fortunately, it looks like you have an excellent command of the English language, so hopefully you can get by )
Kind regards,

Thanks Todd. It works.
I have chosen a Chinese font in Setting box. Now screen-scraper can show Chinese character in his text area (for example, inside the last response tab). But the dialog box can't show chinese character, as the screenshot i sent you.
When I turn off Tidy, I can get the true Chinese characters after scraping, not something like ""

Hi,
We're still rooting out some of the bugs related to internationalization support. To specifically address the issue you're getting with the character instances, try disabling tidying for your scrapeable file. This can be done under the "Advanced" tab. Also, under the "Settings" dialog box (click the wrench icon in the button bar), be sure to select a character set and font that will be able to display the characters you're scraping.
Kind regards,

Hi movin, thanks for all your questions. We are still working on this one. Being a japanese speaker I would like to see this functionality as well, but it looks like we don't support it for the time being. If you really need this functionality now, send an email to [email protected] and we'll see what we can do.
