The Amazing Disappearing Edit Token window!

Upgraded from SS 5.0 to 5.5 and the Edit Token window has disappeared from my Mac G4!

OK, first post, but did a search and couldn't find any info on the forums. I'm running SS basic edition from my Mac Powerbook G4 (yeah, yeah, I know...wish I could buy a Macbook or Pro but they're cheap here!)

I had installed the Mac version of SS basic 5.0, which worked fine. I then installed SS 5.5 a few days ago and noticed that I can't get the Edit Token window to appear anymore. What I mean is that:
1. I select either the text for the token or an existing token
2. I right-click and choose Edit Token from the menu
3. I wait for the window...endlessly. ;)

Any ideas as to how I can get the Edit Token window to re-appear?

Thanks in advance and regards,
Justin

Justin_S, I'll look into this

Justin_S,

I'll look into this but in the meantime would you please try double-clicking your token and let me know if that opens the edit token window.

Thanks,
Scott

Tested but no dice...

Hi Scott,

Thanks for following up. I double-clicked an existing token as suggested but no Edit Token window appeared.

That said, the scrape I was working on was migrated from SS 5.0 (hybrid Win-Mac development). To determine whether the issue was the app or this scrape in particular, I created an entirely new scrape within SS 5.5. However, I discovered the following:
- When I select a block of text to create a token, the 'Edit Token' option in the context menu is greyed-out
- when I create a token manually (i.e., type ~@YOUR_TOKEN_NAME_HERE@~), the 'Edit Token' option in the context menu is available but clicking it doesn't display the expected window

HTH and thanks again for investigating this!

Regards,
Justin

token edit

Hi,

I am having the same problem. The token-edit with the right mouse-click doesn't react. I have tried it on both versions, basic and professional, but both don't react. I am working on a Mac-ppc (10.5.8) G5, not intel, but nevertheless this is still a very recent version. So I am stuck to explore further the possibilities of screen-scraper. Am I doing something wrong?...
With friendly regards,

Johan, I'm not sure if it

Johan,

I'm not sure if it matters that you're running it on a PowerPC chip. I also don't know if we have a way of testing this fully. So, I may need you to be our tester (if that's ok).

I'll ask our lead developer to take a look. Perhaps he has an old iMac he can steal from his kids for a moment to do some testing.

Johan, Would you please do

Johan,

Would you please do the following?

- close down screen-scraper
- delete all content in your log folder
- start screen-scraper
- attempt to edit a token

Then, please email me all files from your log folder (scottw[@]screen-scraper).

Thanks,
Scott

generate pattern & token edit fails

Hi,
I tried everything as you asked and I noticed that the problem starts already with the right click for generating "generate extractor pattern" from selected text. The pattern isn't generated. I can insert it manually but then to edit-token with right-click fails.
The test pattern and highlight extracted data works.
I tried to send you also the error.log but scottw@screen-scraper returns from my mail-server (is the .com missing?).
I noticed that the log stayed empty.
With friendly regards,
Johan

generate pattern & token edit fails

Hi,
I just saw that there is an alpha version.
If you want I try it on my mac G5. In order to see if the token edit works.

Johan,

Yes, please upgrade to the latest alpha and let us know if it that fixes it or not.
