Lock file exists

Having problems with an evaluation version of screen scraper:

System: w2k server
SS v 1.5

I was testing an extractor pattern, when ss appeared to hang. ended the task via task manager, and now whenever i try to start it, i get the following message:

it appears as though an instance of screen scraper is already running, which is not allowed. if a second instance is already open and you continue data could be corrupted. Would you like to continue anyway? Yes/No

- ss is not running as a service
- i even tried a reboot, and still get the message.

any suggestions?

One other note on this issue--it's been fixed in the most recent pre-release version of screen-scraper. You can update to the latest pre-release by selecting "Check for updates" from the "Options" menu. Please bear in mind, however, that this should be considered "alpha" software, so you may find some wrinkles.

Lock file exists

ozmex,

spillage was correct in his approach to working around the stale lock file. Just to add to what he has said, one can delete the lock file safely if one knows that screen-scraper is no longer running.

Lock file exists

I get this all the time when the server unexpectedly quits on me (too often so far, and you'll see my question on that soon after I finish testing some other issues :-) )

If you 'continue on' at that message, screen-scraper will eventually open (takes a while). Immediately exit back out and the lock will be removed. Then start it back up again.

There is a lock file in the installation directory, and I haven't yet tried just removing the lock file, but I'll be playing with that soon too.
