Unable to configure Proxy

Hi,

I'm on a mac and tried configuring Safari, Firefox, and Opera in accordance with the instructions here

http://community.screen-scraper.com/configuring_firefox

and in the other browser-specific guides.

I get a proxy error each time and don't have the specific error on me right now, because my account here just got activated and I tried screen-scraper out just over a month ago.

Still, I am very interested in screen scraping, and would love to give it a shot. I know it might be tough without the specific error, but it was basically, I configured the proxy as shown, and then I could not browse at all anymore (no websites).

Maybe that's enough for some wise folks to point me to the next step.

Best!

Does your browser need a

Does your browser need a proxy set up for you to get to the internet? If so, then these instructions are inadequate, but should do for most cases.

The idea is that your browser is set to go to screen-scraper, and screen-scraper to the internet, so your proxy session gets to the internet on the usual port (usually 80), and the proxy redirects the HTML to port 8777, and your browser is configured to get that HTML off of the localhost at 8777.

If you still have the problem, a more specific error message would help.

Cheers,
